Galvanised Steel Covers & Frames

Galvanised & stainless steel covers covers are lightweight and surprisingly strong. They are easy to install which makes them ideal for domestic driveways.

All of our steel covers are rated by their FACTA loading class, which is based on the slow moving pneumatic wheel load of vehicles travelling at speeds of no greater than 20mph in low intensity trafficked areas. For this reason, these covers are not suitable for high speed, heavily trafficked areas such as main roads and motorways where only cast & ductile iron covers should be used instead.

The FACTA ratings available for steel covers are as follows:

FACTA A - Pedestrian use and up to 2.5 tonne GLVW (5kN/0.6 tonne wheel loads)
FACTA AA - Small vehicles up to 5 tonne GLVW (15kN/1.5 tonne wheel loads)
FACTA AAA - Cars up to 10 tonne GLVW (25kN/2.5 tonne wheel loads)
FACTA B - Cars and vans up to 25 tonne GLVW (50kN/5.0 tonne wheel loads)
FACTA C - Trucks up to 38 tonne GLVW (65kN/6.5 tonne wheel loads)
FACTA D - Articulated lorries up to 44 tonne GLVW (108kN/11 tonne wheel loads)
FACTA E - Heavy, moving plant up to 64 tonne GLVW (158kN/16 tonne wheel loads)
FACTA F - Aircraft and heavy plant up to 96 tonne GLVW (237kN/24 tonne wheel loads)
